bathroom make over

You know we bought this house in November.  After holidays I finally have been able to start on the master abthroom redo.  Ugh......Let me tell you.....I am no spring chicken anymore!  This is hard work!

Hubby has cancer, so he does what he can, but it's mostly up to me to get er done.....

I cannot define the wallpaper well enough.  it is everywhere in this house.  Pink too.  shades of pink everywhere.  even pink drawer knobs.  I like pink.....I don't love pink.  Sorry to all you pink lovers!  tee hee....but, back to the bathroom.  It had wall to wall carpet.  nice carpet I must say, but not in the bathroom.  And  our master bath is big.  the counter top is 9.5 feet long just to give you an idea.

So here is the before.....

You can ssort of tell the wallpaper has little pink and blue wreaths all over.  what an ordeal that removal was.

but here it is, a work in progress.  I laid the floor myself.  got tendonitis in both wrists from it.

The flooring is floating planks Luxe vinyl faux wood flooring by Armstrong.  Got it at Lowes.
The wall color is Butter Cookie. Isn't it pretty! Had to paint around the toilet and tub so we could install the new toilet.  But it's getting there.

I will take a picture when it's done.  so far, we are 1 month into this project and still counting!

Beacon bear

Back last June or July I went to an estate sale.  After reading the about the sale items, I knew I couldn't miss this one.  It was an estate of a former fashion designer and interior decorator.  The listing said "fabircs" and being that I am a potential fabric hoarder, I had to go.

Oh my God.  I can tell you that when I walked in my legs went weak! I started shaling.  there was so much stuff......indescribabe....I went back 3 times!  Husband thought i'd lost my mind.

But enough of that.  There, perched atop a pile of cloth was this cute little bear.  I knew by looking he was well made and snatched him up for a mere $5.

Once home I was looking through my loot and took a closer look at him.  He appeared to be made from Beacon blanket fabric.   I listed him in my Etsy shop.  He stayed there for a little while, then I buyer.  woo hoo.  so as I was preparing my invoice and packaging, I took a closer look at where this little Beacon Bear was headed.

So my daughter and I looked it up.  Yes indeed, that is the Ralph Lauren we were thinking of.  The very nice lady told me they were really excited to see my little bear.

And yes, Ralph Lauren has a line of Beacon fashions too.  Maybe they used this little guy as inspiration......who knows.

This is old news, but I still try checking every now and then to see if Ralph Lauren m ade a Beacon Bear for sales!

A night at the ball.......

Millie found the courage to join in on the fun!  She demurely and shyly found her way over to The Polka Dot Closet to meet new friends.

She is hoping to be noticed in these old rags of tattered lace and silk slips.  Maybe a dance with one of the men, if Anita Man will share!

my kitchen

There were so many people at the auction yesterday, it made for some fierce competition at bidding. Didn't get the dining table I wanted.  Got the Queen Ann table.....

Got that wingback at the thrift store.....Great condition, but needs steam cleaned.   My surefit cover is on it's way.....

Also, got a Mancer Italian pottery canister set.  Isn't it cute!  $22, not bad....

The cookie jar and s & p shakers are not Mancer, but cute and were extras int he box.

I don't think I ever showed the "pink" kitchen in my new house......pink is OK, but not for me in the kitchen.

I like the parquet flooring though!

We are working on this.....The wallpaper is going first.  In the master bath, the vanity top is 9 1/2 feet long......so is the mirror.  I want to remove the mirror, but would need some hired help with that project.

Oh yes, my baby is having a baby!  Gonna be a Grandma to #5.  She is 37 and this is her first.  She is very excited.  I am so happy for her and her husband, well, soon to be husband.  Planning csome special events this year.

See the baby cradle I got yesterday......it will now come in handy.

See ya'll later,

Lampshade & cones

Last night after work, I decided to try my hand at making a shabby lacy lamp shade.  I was very pleased with the way it turned out.  And my buttons have been put to good use.

There was a little bit of everything in this pretty.

Also finished up some lacy cones.  Now let me tell you about this lace on the cones, I went to a private estate sale, more like a garage sale.  There was not much left, stuff was strewn every where.  Then, I picked up a piece of lace, and too my surprise, it was an entire bolt of the creamiest colored cotton table cloth pieces.  Halfs I guess.  I am not sure, but I just had to have it.  $2 she said......

I hope to have a bunch of items for the November craft show.  I was invited last year but had to decline because we were house hunting.  They are also going to go into my Etsy shop.

Today I'm heading out to the auction......they haven't had one in several months so hope to find a dining table and whatever else happens to catch my eye.

Ya'll have a nice weekend!

Life's simple pleasures...

I cannot resist a tempting sale on Ebay.  Especially when the potential prize is a huge assortment of buttons!  Yes, I am reeled in at the thought of owning a stash of buttons.  I already have a stash of unique vintage buttons, but these were all whites and creams.  So they arrived today, this lovely assortment along with my $3 win of some Victoria magazines.  I feel like a kid with a new toy!

Love this old fruit cake tin too!

They arrived in time to dress up these lace cones I have been working on.

My magazines.  From 2000, 2003 & 2010.

Some things in my room.  I call it the production room.

Have a good night ya'll.  I'm going to check out my new stuff.

also made my little foot stool!

this stool was so ugly.  It was at a yard sale for $2.  I knew it would be something special.  I used some fabric from an estate sale and new fringe trim,  voila.  staple gun and glue.  Oh and make your own buttons for tufting.

And my little Eli perched on top!
