A nice day....

Today, John and I went to Memorial Hermann in the Houston Med Center, for a celebration they had for the 100th TAVR procedure.

Got to meet alot of the team that performed his procedure this past December and we sat at the table of the first recipiant, Martha and her husband were so sweet.  He was quite a devilish character and at 85 yrs young (he looked 65) he really entertained us.  They served a nice buffet lunch with salmon, chicken, salad, fruit, asparagus, and berry shortcake for dessert.

Here are a few scans from my books I found.  Feel free to save the images and use them any way you'd like.

I like the first one.

And another

Thanks for stopping by and visiting!

French Sachets

Last year, while I was laid off, I was out at the thrift stores, and came across a huge lot of clip art books with victorian, french and other advertising images, I must have about 10 of them.

I never really had much time after got my job to really check them out and make anyhting form htem until today.

Here are just a few pages of some of the really neat copyright free images.

Anyhow, in my excitement, I cut one out and saved the image here.  And I am not very computer savvy either. LOL

Please feel free to save this image and use in your projects.  I am a sharing kind of folk!

Anyways, I decided to make some sachets with this image...

I decided to use some tea stained muslin I had on hand, I ironed the fabric to the waxy side of freezer paper, cut it to 5x7, and ran it through the printer.  I think these turned out very cute and they will be for sale in my Etsy shop.

The one with the ruffle on the botom is hanging from this shelf I made last year.  I have another one ready to finish soon.  I will be using one of these graphics for it...but that's another day...It will probably take me a month the way I get things done!

Thank you all for checking in and I really enjoy your comments.  (even if I don't always say so...I am a clam......:)... )

Sring giveaway......

After the Ball giveaway........

Millie had such fun at Carol's dress form ball this year.   And as promised, Millie's rose floral lamp shade (she used as a hat) is being given away to one lucky winner.

Awwww, look at my cute G-babies in the back ground.......

This shade is covered in some pink fabric I had left over from a pillow, vintage millinery, ribbons and this luscious rose.

If you would like a chance to win this lamp shade, just leave a comment about this giveaway on my blog, and be sure to leave me a valid email address if you do not have a blog so I can notify the winner.

Drawing will be March 23rd at 12 noon CST. Texas time!

Thanks and good luck to the winner......It's much prettier than the pictures show.

Reminder too, Millie's dress will be for sale next week on Etsy shop with proceeds going to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, so be sure to check her out on my blog or visit The Polka Dot Closet where you can see all the fabulous dress forms.

Clark & Kensington free quart

Ya'll don't forget to head on over to your local Ace Hardware for your free quart of Clark & Kensington paint.

I got Shiloh on the left and bottom.    And Toasty Tan right and top.  I am going to finally paint the dining room.  Can you guess which one I chose?

Shiloh wins.  It's sort of a taupy grey.

Also get $10 off supplies today too.  I better take advantage of that.  And next weekend is another free quart...... YAY!

Childs rocker

Found this antique childs rocker at the thrift store......for $3.

The faded label on the side says it came from England at an antique store there.

It had an awful brown carpet cover, (forgot before pics)..... :(

But I recovered it with this cute animal fabric found in an estate sale fabric grab bag.

I am also working on this old dresser.  Again, no before pictures.

I removed all the old alligator varnish (denatured alcohol, so easy and no elbow grease needed)

And painted it in ASCP Emperor's silk with dark wax finish.  The top will be yard sticks.

I'll show you the finished when  it's done.

This has taken me a month to do.........!   But I'm on a roll...... working on a bunch of smaller things too for my ignored Etsy shop.

See ya'll later.... xoxoxo  Diane

Dress Form Ball

Millie Millie Millie........goodness girl....I know it's the event of the year, but. . . . . .well. Here she is in all her glory.  When it comes to floral, Millie really went all out.  She calls her creation Dress Form Couture.

Rather than a longer more formal gown, this was last year's dress.....

Millie opted for a cocktail style piece.

Complete with lamp shade chapaeu......lol

And some dried valentine roses..........

Doilie sleeves....

Removable bustle bouquet.....

An envious admirer.....

A little of this and a little of that, dyed doilies, dyed cotton seam tape, some black trim and feathers from an old mask......Even some vintage milinery.  She has a removable bustle bouquet.  (the delicate dried roses could crush)  This was fun to make.

Yes, Millie's been quite inspired and has really come out of her shell.  LOL.   Thank you Carol for sponsoring this wonderful event.  If ya'll haven't heard, it's "The Polka Dot Closet's" second annual dress form ball on March 11th.   So fun to see everyone's creations!

Millie's dress will be up for sale in my Etsy shop following the ball.   100% of the sale will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.   The dress is made from a vintage coral slip.  Most of the decoration  is glued with permanent fabric glue and is not really meant to be worn by humans, but....hey....nowadays, anything goes right?!  This dress would look great on a mannequin for display.  Maybe in your shop......

Wait, that's not all.......Millie is also going to have a giveaway.....what you ask?  The pretty pink lamp shade.  I will have a post after the dress form ball.  You do not have to be a follower but having more friends tagging along makes it more fun.   Stay tuned.

See ya'll at the ball......xoxo
