my kitchen

There were so many people at the auction yesterday, it made for some fierce competition at bidding. Didn't get the dining table I wanted.  Got the Queen Ann table.....

Got that wingback at the thrift store.....Great condition, but needs steam cleaned.   My surefit cover is on it's way.....

Also, got a Mancer Italian pottery canister set.  Isn't it cute!  $22, not bad....

The cookie jar and s & p shakers are not Mancer, but cute and were extras int he box.

I don't think I ever showed the "pink" kitchen in my new house......pink is OK, but not for me in the kitchen.

I like the parquet flooring though!

We are working on this.....The wallpaper is going first.  In the master bath, the vanity top is 9 1/2 feet long......so is the mirror.  I want to remove the mirror, but would need some hired help with that project.

Oh yes, my baby is having a baby!  Gonna be a Grandma to #5.  She is 37 and this is her first.  She is very excited.  I am so happy for her and her husband, well, soon to be husband.  Planning csome special events this year.

See the baby cradle I got yesterday......it will now come in handy.

See ya'll later,

Diane

Lampshade & cones

Last night after work, I decided to try my hand at making a shabby lacy lamp shade.  I was very pleased with the way it turned out.  And my buttons have been put to good use.

There was a little bit of everything in this pretty.

Also finished up some lacy cones.  Now let me tell you about this lace on the cones, I went to a private estate sale, more like a garage sale.  There was not much left, stuff was strewn every where.  Then, I picked up a piece of lace, and too my surprise, it was an entire bolt of the creamiest colored cotton table cloth pieces.  Halfs I guess.  I am not sure, but I just had to have it.  $2 she said......

I hope to have a bunch of items for the November craft show.  I was invited last year but had to decline because we were house hunting.  They are also going to go into my Etsy shop.

Today I'm heading out to the auction......they haven't had one in several months so hope to find a dining table and whatever else happens to catch my eye.

Ya'll have a nice weekend!

Life's simple pleasures...

I cannot resist a tempting sale on Ebay.  Especially when the potential prize is a huge assortment of buttons!  Yes, I am reeled in at the thought of owning a stash of buttons.  I already have a stash of unique vintage buttons, but these were all whites and creams.  So they arrived today, this lovely assortment along with my $3 win of some Victoria magazines.  I feel like a kid with a new toy!

Love this old fruit cake tin too!

They arrived in time to dress up these lace cones I have been working on.

My magazines.  From 2000, 2003 & 2010.

Some things in my room.  I call it the production room.

Have a good night ya'll.  I'm going to check out my new stuff.

also made my little foot stool!

this stool was so ugly.  It was at a yard sale for $2.  I knew it would be something special.  I used some fabric from an estate sale and new fringe trim,  voila.  staple gun and glue.  Oh and make your own buttons for tufting.

And my little Eli perched on top!

Finishing unfinished projects feels good....

I finally completed some things.  They are my versions of collage.

This is my family album.....well not really my family of course.  But I think it turned out really cute.  I am going to list it in my Etsy Shop.

I have been working on tghis thing since beofre our house searching, July, 2011.  Then it was out away in a box.  Finally found it.

I think it turned out pretty cute.

I made something today!

Fianlly got to craft a little bit.  A while ago, I bought a tutorial from Dawn at The Feathered Nest, her paper clay bird.  Well....mine did not look as grand as hers, but I realized something....I love that paper clay.

I purchased some doll face molds and tried my hand at that.  My first mold, the clay had to be dug out!  Then I used a release, baby powder and voila.....out it came.  Even though she was a little rough around the edges,  I decided she was a little cutie  regardless.  I painted her up and gave her a sweet litle dress made from an old hankie, and some vintage lace.  What do you think?

I wanted to make a bunch of these to sell in my Etsy store before Christmas, but with house hunting, packing, moving and unpacking, I just couldn't get anything done....

Football fun!

MD Anderson Cancer Center gave John (hubby) 2 luxury suite tickets to the last regular game of the Houston Texans.  Oh My Goodness...We got to see how the other people live.....!  We got treated so well.   Like celebrities.

So we started off 2012 with free suite (and I mean sweet) tickets.  We paid for nothing (except a tip to our suite host who was such a nice guy)
Then I saw the girls and just knew John needed to get a picture!

And John and I in the suite,  The cheerleaders came to visit!  Please, pay no attention to the chubby older woman (Me!)

A really fun day!
Bye Ya'll, Diane
